The use of aluminum-magnesium-carbon brick in ladle

Aluminum-magnesia carbon brick is mainly used in clearance and slag line when refining ladle furnace and ladle. According to the operating conditions, these parts require the use of refractory materials must have high temperature resistance, heat shock resistance, resistance to slag erosion caused by mechanical erosion.

So in the past, these parts have used magnesia-chromium refractory materials, but considering that chromium has pollution to the environment, its dosage has been reduced, and now magnesia-carbon bricks are used.

Due to the serious damage of magnesia carbon bricks in the new ladle during the preheating process, the loose decarburization layer can reach 30 ~ 60mm thick. This layer is washed away during the injection of molten steel and carries the magnesia particles into the slag. Obviously, preventing the carbon in magnesia carbon brick from being burned off during preheating has become one of the important steps to improve the service life of magnesia carbon brick in ladle clearance and slag line.

The technical measures, in addition to adding compound antioxidants to the magnesia carbon brick, the key is that the surface of the magnesia carbon brick should be covered with low melting glass phase liquid containing alkali after lining, so as to protect the carbon in the magnesia carbon brick from being burned off during the preheating process of the ladle.
